Will you cap Dogecoin?
No. Many reasons.
I’m not coding on the project anymore
Block Rewards are required for a Proof of Work cryptocurrency like Dogecoin to remain secure. If it stops giving any rewards, the coin becomes insecure. If we capped it right now, the coin would become very easy to attack, as miners would discontinue mining it. A coin that was easy to attack would be worth $0.00.
The small amount of inflation (fixed issuance - 5.2B new coins per year) allows for DOGE to always be inexpensive to send around.
Why aren’t you on the project anymore? Will you ever return?
I left the project in 2014, after receiving enough harassment and death threats that I decided it was not worth it to me. Jackson and I handed it off to some very competent core devs, who have kept the project maintained ever since.
It’s extremely unlikely that I’ll return unless I had an excessively compelling reason to do so, and I don’t - it is a decentralized, open source cryptocurrency, so anyone could potentially work on it if they want.
